Gokul group to set up edible oil refinery at Haldia

Gujarat-based Gokul Refoils and Solvent would set up an edible oil refinery plant at Haldia at a cost of Rs 140 crore, a company official said.
Managing director of Gokul Refoils Kanubhai Thakkar said that the Haldia plant would have a refining capacity of 1,000 tonnes per day and would manufacture palmolien, soyabean and kacchi ghani mustard oil.
He said that the annual sales of the company was Rs 3,000 crore and also has plant to enter the power sector for which it had entered into a MoU with the Gujarat government.
Thakkar said that it would be a lignite-based power plant with a generation capacity of 135 Mw.
About future plans, he said that the target was to increase refining capacity to 8,000 tonnes per day at its Kandla and Haldia plants over the next five years.
