Govt to provide land for ICAI Centre of Excellence

The Orissa government will provide land and other support to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to set up a Centre of Excellence at Bhubaneswar.
This was announced by the state finance minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai in the national conference of ICAI held here. The proposed Centre of Excellence will act as act as a Centre of higher learning and provide a research hub in accounting and other related areas. Bhubaneswar is one among the 12 locations where ICAI is setting up of Centres of Excellence.
Addressing the participants, Ghadai said, the role of Chartered Accountants (CAs) has become vital in the changing economic scenario. Its role has expanded to the social and planning arena.
Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Prakash Agarwal, President, ICAI said, there are 1, 55,000 CAs in the country and about 6 lakh students are enrolled in various courses of ICAI.
