GSK to launch 5-6 products in current year
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Aug 18, 2009, 21:06 IST

FMCG firm GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is planning to launch five-six products in the remaining half of the year to maintain a double-digit growth rate.

"We have already launched five products in the first half of the current year and in the remaining half, we have lined up five-six launches," GSK Consumer Health Executive VP Marketing Subhajit Sen told PTI on the sidelines of a CII marketing summit.

The company has ealier announced that it would launch around 10-12 products in the current year, including some from the international portfolio of its parent company. It had already launched Horlicks Bar and Junior Horlicks Biscuits, and will soon introduce more such products particularly in the biscuit segment.

In the next three to four years period, GSK is planning to garner 4-5 per cent share in the Rs 800-crore domestic biscuit market, Sen said.

"Our biscuit business is very small, it is even less than one per cent of the Rs 800-crore Indian market. We are working on launching more products in this category to increase our maket share in the country," Sen said.

GSK is looking at expanding its existing range of products in nutritional food product segment and the new launches would be supplementing its existing product portfolio.

"Our aim is to launch a new product every month and we hope to maintain a double-digit growth rate in these coming years."
