In bid to provide a further boost to the education sector in the state, the Gujarat government is all set to bring in around four bills during the ensuing Budget session of the state Assembly. The session is scheduled to begin from June 29.
The four bills pertaining to education include Gujarat Private Universities Bill 2009, Sardar Patel University (Amendment) Bill, Kamdhenu University Bill and Nirma University of Science and Technology (Amendment) Bill.
Higher education institutions are expanding their fields of teaching, learning and research. Many institutions have approached the state government to allow them to enter the field of qualitative higher education of international standard. Considering the demands of higher education institutes and the needs of the student for higher education, the state government believes it is necessary to promote such private universities on a self-finance basis run by trusts or private bodies under relevant laws. The Private Universities Bill is aimed at enacting a law for establishment and incorporation of private universities.
In order to make milk production and animal breeding in Gujarat more more scientific and professional, the Gujarat government intends to set up Kamdhenu university in Sabarkantha district of the state. The university will impart education and undertake research work in animal husbandry. Gujarat government will also table a bill with regard to Kamdhenu university.
