In association with Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL) of Gujarat government, Gujaratilexicon launched an online Gujarati dictionary, 'Lokkosh', on Tuesday. The online resource allows users to contribute new Gujarati words and phrases in daily usage on Lokkosh.
Speaking at the launch, Ratilal Chandaria, founder, Gujaratilexicon said, "Our aim is to capture the contemporary language of enterprising Gujaratis. We felt that it would be a big loss not to incorporate new words which are an integral part of Gujarati language across the world."
To sustain the richness of Lokkosh, a team of lexicographers set stringent rules in selection of words, said Chandaria. The website aims to cater to needs of growing internet users in rural areas of Gujarat.
"Government of Gujarat has been instrumental in providing internet services to each and every corner of the state and with an ever increasing ratio of Gujarati internet users, the website will come handy," said Neeta Shah, director, e-governance, Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL).
