GUVNL invites offers for selling 200 Mw in March
BS Reporter / Mumbai/ Ahmedabad Feb 18, 2010, 00:27 IST

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), the power generation, transmission and distribution company of the state, intends to sell 200 Mw of surplus power in the month of March. The company has already invited offers from distribution licensees and traders.

This is for the fourth time that GUVNL is offering surplus power for sale. In September, the company had invited offers for sale of 200 Mw power during the period of December 2009 to February 2010 on firm basis with take or pay liability.

Apart from this, GUVNL had decided to sell 200 Mw of surplus power for the month of June and 150 for period from July to September 2009.

As per the ruled laid down by the company, if bidder fails to offtake 80 per cent of contracted quantum except open access denied by RLDC, trader shall pay to GUVNL at the rate of Rs 2.00 per unit for thequantum of offtake that falls short of 80 per cent of contracted quantum. If GUVNL fails to supply 80 per cent of contracted amount of power, the public sector company will have to pay to trader at the rate of Rs 2.00 per unit for the quantum of supply that falls short of 80 per cent of contracted quantum.

"The increase in quantum of wind power coming to the state grid is also one of the reasons for surplus power with the state-owned power," said a senior government official.
