| Haryana farmers need not pay stamp duty on loan up to Rs 3 lakh |

The farmers in Haryana will not have to pay any stamp duty on the documents executed by them in favour of any Commercial Bank for securing loans upto Rs. three lakh. A notification to this effect has been issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Haryana.
As per the notification, the whole of duty chargeable under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 in respect of instruments executed by the agriculturist in favour of any Commercial Bank for securing loan upto Rs 3 lakh for the purchase of tractors with its accessories, tractor trolley and threshers, installation of tubewell based on diesel engine, boring and electrification of tubewell, laying of underground pipes, lining of water courses, levelling and reclamation of land and development of horticulture and upto the amount of Rs 2 lakh for the purchase of pumping sets, cane crushers, bullocks or plough and spray equipment, sprinkler irrigation for agricultural purposes and other equipment.
However, only those farmers shall be entitled for such exemptions against whom no dues with regard to payment of electricity charges are pending.
