Taking suo motu cognisance of unruly scenes at its premises yesterday during a protest by a section of lawyers against Chief Justice P D Dinakaran, Karnataka High Court today issued notices to officer bearers of Advocates Association of Bangalore for allegedly committing contempt of court.
A division bench ordered issue of notices to AAB president K N Puttegowda and secretary R Rajanna.
A section of advocates affiliated to AAB had yesterday abstained from court duty protesting continuance of justice Dinakaran, who is facing land-grabbing charges, defying a stay by the High Court on a resolution by the association which had called for the boycott.
The protest was marred by ugly scenes with Justice Dinakaran being jostled and two judges, who continued the hearing, locked up in the court hall. The judges adjourned the hearing to November 13.
