HCC bags Rs 387-cr order for Bhutan power plant

Engineering and construction firm Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) today said it has bagged Rs 387.50-crore order for Dagacchu Hydro Power project in Bhutan.

The contract is for the Lot -1 of the 114 mega watt power project of Dagacchu Hydro Power Corporation, HCC said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.

"This is the second order we have received in recent times after being awarded Package MC3 of 1200 Mw Punatsangchhu-1 Hydroelectric Project," said Vinayak Deshpande, president and chief operating officer, HCC.

Elated at being awarded the project, he said this order would further strengthen the comapny's ties with people of Bhutan.

The project, scheduled to be completed in 1,239 days, involves construction of diversion weir, intake, connection channel and tunnel to desilter in addition addition to pressure shaft, powerhouse and transformer caverns.

HCC has successfully constructed over 25 per cent of the country's hydel power generation capacity, including several projects in Himalayan region, it said.

Shares of the company settled at Rs 101.85, up 2.83 per cent from its previous close on the BSE.
