HCC implements SAP in 2 high altitude projects in Ladakh

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd, a leading construction and infrastructure development group, has gone live with SAP at its two hydro-electric project sites located at Chutak in Kargil (10,000 feet above the sea level) and Nimo Bazgo (11,000 feet) in Leh district of Ladakh in Jammu & Kashmir.
These two Ladakh sites of hydel power projects are the highest SAP implementation locations in the world. The earlier highest location was 6,800 feet above the sea level in the Rocky Mountains in the US.
HCC has been allotted civil works contract worth Rs 794 crore by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for the 44-Mw Chutak hydel power project and the 45-Mw Nimo-Bazgo power project.
A senior executive of the company in J&K said the SAP implementation project of the IT group of the company, named Sankalp, would ensure all HCC’s offices and sites continuously had access to an integrated database online.
The database includes information about project planning and execution, equipment availability and condition, accounts and finance, cost, procurement, stores and overall material movement, quality and human resource on a minute-to-minute basis.
Responding to a question, he said in the construction business where sites are far-flung and often in remote places, SAP would allow the status and progress on each project to be monitored constantly.
