Mumbai-based engineering company Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the international engineering and project management company AMEC plc to jointly explore the application of consulting and EPC services for the establishment of nuclear power plants in India.
"This tie-up will further strengthen HCC's capabilities to execute services in the field of mechanical and electrical components of nuclear power plants by sourcing the latest prevailing global technologies through AMEC", said the company in a release sent to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Ajit Gulabchand, chairman and managing director, HCC said, "AMEC, with its globally benchmarked nuclear technology experience is the ideal partner to help catapult India to the cutting edge of nuclear power generation. Our partnership will provide flexible and technology independent platforms to reduce the cost of building new nuclear power plants in India."
