Press Trust of India / New Delhi May 28, 2009, 16:17 IST

HCL Technologies has emerged as the best managed entity in the list of top 50 global outsourcing vendors for 2009 compiled by the Black Book of Outsourcing, which also features atleast eight other Indian IT services firms.

The annual survey, based on client experience of outsourcing vendor management, execution and performance, has ranked HCL Technologies at the top of the list of 50 firms, ahead of global giants — Oracle (2nd)and Xerox (3rd).

Another Indian IT service major, Infosys has been ranked at the 4th place in the list, while Genpact is at the 9th place followed by Patni Computer (15th).

Other Indian outsourcing vendors in the list include — NIIT Technologies (20th), Wipro-Infocrossing (21st), Tata Consultancy Services (26th), Mastek (29th) and WNS Global(32).

The Black Book survey stated that 16 vendors have managed to remain in the list of top 50 for the past seven consecutive years, although over 4,500 new vendors have been added in the global industry supplier data set.      Black Book Research, a division of Brown-Wilson Group and co-authors of The Black Book of Outsourcing, conducts studies and surveys regularly to inform buyers, investors, governance officials, corporate executives and vendors of the state of outsourcing and offshoring industries.

Five Indian companies — Genpact, HCL, Patni, Wipro and TCS — are among the companies which have managed to maintain their status in the top 50 over the past seven year.      The global companies, which have maintained their place include —  Accenture, ACS, BNY Mellon Sourcenet, Capgemini, Cognizant, CSC, Hewlett Packard/EDS, IBM Global, Oracle, Perot Systems and Unisys.

Based on the rising minimum level of acceptable quality in outsourcing management execution, an overall improvement in satisfaction of greater than 30 per cent was needed to maintain or compete for Top 50 status.

The other global outsourcing companies in the list include --IBM Global (6th), Camgemini (8th), Hewlett Packard EDS (10th), CSC (11th ), iGate(14th), Hewitt(42) and Perot Systems (16th).
