HCL Infosystems Ltd is exploring possibilities to join hands with the Madhya Pradesh government for various integrated technology solutions in areas of security, health, education, banking, transport and infrastructure.

Speaking to Business Standard, Founder, Chairman and CEO of the company Ajay Chowdhry said, “Our talks with various departments of the state have reached an advanced stage and we are already working in various areas with the government. The company, which has a wide product portfolio, offers a range of services, technology-enabled business transformation programmes to clients in various sectors across the globe. However, the main focus of its business is yet domestic market. The system integrated services which the company is looking in Madhya Pradesh may support the state in key development areas like infrastructure, job-oriented government sponsored schemes like NREGS and health.

"If one calculates the losses which Mumbai had to incur due to the terrorist attack, it touched more than Rs 50,000 crore. Mere equipping the towns with close circuit television cameras (CCTV) will not serve the purpose. We have a software solution for CCTV surveillance system that policy or law enforcement agencies can not only monitor a particular area but also can avoid an untoward situation once our software detects the suspects," Chowdhry said. “Similarly in health system, telemedicine can do wonders in providing solutions to the commoner on e-governance platform. And all this will cost little if compared with the human losses, let alone economical losses.”He, however, did not disclose the size of business he was looking at in Madhya Pradesh.

On the other hand, a state government official in the department of information technology said, “The state government is already working with various technology-based solution providers but funding is the main issue. Only cost-effective solutions work in a state like Madhya Pradesh.”
