| Heavy rainfall predicted for Gujarat region in two days |

Weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places over Gujarat, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli in the next two days. "This expected spell of rains in Gujarat after a gap of nearly a month will be highly beneficial for the standing crop," Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Director, Kamaljit Ray said. "Its likely to rain for 3 to 4 days, during this spell," she said.
There has been virtually no rainfall in Gujarat since the end of July. More than 15 out of 26 districts in the state have so far received less than 50 per cent rainfall, an IMD official said. Of these, Dahod, Dang, Anand, Bharuch, Surendranagar and Panchmahal have got received than 40 per cent rains so far, as per state government figures.
The state has received 55 per cent rainfall till now. Gujarat so far has recorded 531.43 mm rainfall against 960.86 mm of average rainfall over last ten years, the official said. Moderate to heavy rain is predicted in north and south Gujarat, while light to moderate rain is expected at few places in Saurashtra region, the official added
