The Ranchi-based public sector Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) has been awarded a further work contract by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for manufacture of accessories including a 400 tonne launch pedestal for ISRO's GSLV Mark lll project scheduled for blast-off from Sriharikota in 2007.
HEC had joined the elite club of institutions making such high technology components, products and equipments recently, when it participated in the successful launch of the first PSLV on May 5 from the newly built second launch pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
ISRO has supplied HEC all the necessary drawings and machines for the equipments to be used in the GSLV.
The launching pad for the first PSLV sent up from Sriharikota recently was built by another Ranchi-based enterprise, MECON Ltd.
The company produced various equipments worth Rs 185.25 crore during 2004-05 against goods worth Rs 151.34 crore in the previous fiscal.
HEC bags fresh Isro order
