Hikal, Orchid Chemicals & S Kumars Q3 results

Hikal posts 64% growth in Q3
 
Hikal, a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical manufacturer, has posted a 64 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 14.8 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007, as compared with Rs 9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
 
Net sales of the company grew 54 per cent to Rs 85.8 crore as against Rs 55.6 crore. Pharmaceutical sales jumped 107 per cent to Rs 46.7 crore from Rs 22.5 crore.
 
“In order to cater to the contracts we are signing in the pharmaceutical and crop protection business, major capacity additions and project expansions are underway across all our sites. Moving forward, we are expecting significant increase in the contract manufacturing business,” Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Jai Hiremath said.
 
Orchid Chemicals Q3 net up 91%
 
Riding on strong sales in the US, Chennai-based drug major Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals (Orchid) has posted a 91.1 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 54.12 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007, as compared with Rs 28.32 crore in the corresponding quarter last financial year, thanks to its focus in the US market with niche products.
 
Total income rose 39.4 per cent to Rs 332.69 crore from Rs 238.73 crore.
 
S Kumars net profit surges 72%
 
S Kumars Nationwide (SKNL), a textile and apparel company, has posted an increase of 72.24 per cent in net profit at Rs 57.20 crore for the quarter ended December, 2007 as compared with Rs 33.21 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Net sales during the period grew to Rs 453.07 crore from Rs 314.29 crore, up 44.16 per cent.
 
The operating profit of the company grew 61.32 per cent to Rs 101.36 crore from Rs 62.83 crore. On the weak Mumbai market, company’s share prices closed flat at Rs 152.15, down 0.29 per cent. BS Reporter
