Hindustan Construction bags Rs 794-cr contract from NHPC in J&K

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd has finalised the contract agreement for the civil works of the 45-Mw Nimmo Bazgo and the 44-Mw Chutak hydroelectric power projects at Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Corporation has signed an agreement with Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd and has assigned the contract worth Rs 383.9 crore and Rs 410.54 crore for the civil works package of the Nimmo Bazgo and the Chutak hydel power projects, respectively.
A senior NHPC official told Business Standard the Chutak project would be constructed over the river Suru, a tributary of the river Indus in the Kargil district of Ladakh while the Nimmo Bazgo project would be located on the Indus in Leh.
The official said the Nimmo Bazgo project was scheduled to be completed in four years. It will generate 239.3 million units of power annually.
The Chutak project will be completed in 54 months. This power project will generate nearly 216.40 million units of power annually in a 90 per cent dependable year.
