| Searching for a job is now only a phone call away for Hutch customers.
| |
| Hutchison Telecom East Limited (HTEL), in association with 2COMS Consulting Private Limited, launched a first-of-its-kind job search on mobile facility in India through its 123 interactive response system.
| |
| Customers availing this facility can look for jobs in the telecom, banking, information technology (IT), insurance and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors.
| |
| On dialling 123, customers will be given the choice to select an industry from the menu and select a job profile, listen to job description and apply for a job on the same call.
| |
| Call rate is fixed at rupees six per minute.
| |
| If a customer applies for a job through this service, Hutch promises that 2COMS will get in touch with them within 48 hours of application.
| |
| According to S Murali, vice-president, sales and marketing operations, HTEL, this is just a way of informing its customers about job availability in different sectors primarily in the eastern region and not competing against online or newspaper job-search services.
| |
| He felt that this kind of service might help Hutch customers in remote areas where the newspapers might not carry regular jobsearch columns.
| |
| At present, this offer is being launched as an experiment in Kolkata and West Bengal only, said Murali.
| |
| Based on its success here, it will be launched in other regions of India as well, he said.
| |
| The reason behind selection of 2COMS, Murli revealed, was its base in eastern India.
| |
| 2COMS also has offices in Pune and Bangalore to cater to the western and southern Indian job markets.
| |
| In the BPO category, 2COM has WIPRO and GENPAC as its clients, Microsoft and Kanbay from the IT sector, Hutch from telecom, HDFC and ICICI in the banking sector and Birla Sunlife in the sector.
| |
| Plans are on to rope in media houses next. |
