Indian Airlines (IA) is all set to provide major sops to its top loyal fliers. As part of its revamped frequent flier programme, to be launched from July 1, IA is creating the Golden Edge Club for its top fliers.
According to IA executives, the Club would be created for the carrier’s premium fliers and is strictly on an invitation basis. A member of the club would be given 25 per cent more bonus mileage points on all IA domestic and SAARC sectors, besides two upgrade vouchers.
A Golden Edge member would have the right to use specially created Golden Edge Club lounges at the metro airports and would have the benefit of personalised check-ins at exclusive counters. A member would also have a 20 kilogram baggage allowance.
Besides the creation of the Club, IA is revamping its entire Flying Returns, frequent flier programme. The move is primarily because IA has taken over the management of the programme from Air-India in April.
The programme would now have a differentiated point accrual and redemption system which will be on a sector-wise basis. The earn-burn ratio would be in the range of 1:12 and 1:30. The accrual-redemption system will also be made more flexible whereby, during lean season one can accrue and redeem more points on a particular segment.
To differentiate the Flying Returns programme from that offered by its competitors, IA would offer all its two lakh members tele-check-in facility.
According to IA executives none of the other domestic airlines offer this facility to customers. Flying Returns would provide priority upgradation from the wait list for all its members.
To improve customer interface, Flying Returns would provide web-based interactive client servicing within six months of launch.
Statements, regarding redemptions and mileage points, would also be sent via e-mail to the members within three months of launch of the new programme.
The redemption time period has also been made more flexible , for instance a member can redeem points accrued till June 30, 2003 anytime before June 30, 2005.
Between IA, Air-India and its international alliance partners, a member gets a choice of 164 domestic sectors and 510 international sectors.
