IBM, NID aim at making mobiles user-friendly for elderly, illiterate

IBM, the National Institute of Design (NID) and Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo (RCAST) have ventured on a collaborative research initiative to explore an open, common user interface platform for mobile devices, to make them easier to use for the elderly, blind, deaf and illiterate or semi-illiterate populations in developing countries.
IBM researchers in Tokyo and RCAST will place their research focus on Japan's elderly population.
