ICICI largest recruiter during 3rd cluster at IIM-A
Press Trust of India / Ahmedabad Feb 28, 2010, 20:44 IST

ICICI Bank emerged as the biggest recruiter during the third cluster of cohort-based final placements at the Indian Institute of Management here by offering over 10 jobs to the students.

The interviews for the third cluster continued throughout the day yesterday. The companies from various sectors like banking services, financial advisory services and credit rating agencies took part in the placements, a member of the IIM-A placement committee said.

"ICICI Bank was the largest recruiter on campus giving a double-digit number of offers, while regular recruiters such as ICRA, KPMG, Essar Group and Philips offered jobs to the IIM-A students in finance, consulting, sales and marketing fields," he said.

"The new process once again ensured a smooth experience for both students and recruiters. Seamlessness prevailed despite a large number of recruiters visiting the campus this weekend," Media Coordinator for the Placement Committee Mansi Chitalia said.

Final placements at IIM-A this year are based on cohort based system. As per this process, companies offering similar roles, profiles, salaries and locations are grouped into individual cohorts who converge at campus on weekends and discuss roles on offer with students before recruiting them.

"Recruiters are highly upbeat about their decision to hire at IIM-A. We hope that the positive spell continues in subsequent clusters," Chitalia added.

During the first two clusters of cohort-based final placements, held in the last two weeks, FMCG firms and investment banks were among the prominent recruiters who offered jobs to IIM-A students.

Those who made offers during the second cluster include Nestle, Global consultancy firm Deloitte which made 10 offers, Tata Administrative Services(TAS) and Feedback Ventures, besides Hindustan Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, American Express and Standard Chartered.

Boston Consulting Group gave eight offers while McKinsey & Co made as many offers to the second year Post Graduate Programme (PGP) students of IIM-A.

This year, several investment banks like Bank of America-Merrill Lynch came back to the campus for recruitments in first cluster(group of cohorts) last week, after skipping the process last year.

A batch of 290 candidates from IIM-A are scheduled to be placed this year.
