ICICI Lombard General Insurance has introduced an overseas travel cover for senior citizens aged between 71 years and 85 years under its Globetrotter Overseas Travel Insurance umbrella.
At present, no private insurance player is offering overseas travel insurance for senior citizens aged between 71-85 years.
Public sector insurers also do not offer coverage beyond 80 years of age.
The policy will meet the needs of approximately one lakh senior citizens every year who are mainly traveling overseas to the US, Europe and Middle East, an ICICI Lombard release said.
Kartik Jain, head, marketing, ICICI Lombard General Insurance, said: “With the increasing number of Indians going abroad for studies and work, the number of parents going to visit them is also on the rise. Our research showed that there was a need to make insurance policies available for senior citizens. By extending the age bands of our existing Globetrotter Overseas Travel Insurance we are catering to their needs and also fulfilling our obligations as a responsible corporate citizen.”
The product for senior citizens covers medical expenses incurred for immediate medical assistance arising out of illness or accident, including any extra additional costs of medically necessary and prescribed transportation to India.
