ICSA India enters SCADA business
BS Reporter / hyderabad Sep 30, 2009, 12:47 IST

ICSA India Ltd, a Hyderabad-based company which provides hardware and software to power firms and electricity boards to tackle aggregate technical and commercial losses (AT and C), has entered the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) business in India.

The real time monitoring and control of distribution systems through the SCADA networks would help in reducing AT and C losses, increasing efficiency in energy management, load balancing and improvement in voltage profiles. It also helped in plugging pilferage points, enhancing supply of power, identification of faults and early restoration of power.

"We believe that SCADA opportunity would be approximately Rs 2,500 crore in three years. SCADA is also needed for oil, gas and water sectors in future,''  ICSA chairman and managing director, G Bala Reddy, stated in a press release.

The ministry of power has identified SCADA as a critical development that each utility has to undertake for strengthening its network, he said.

ICSA stated that it would initially focus on power sector, for which it has partnered with Yantai Dongfang Electronics Information Industry Company limited based in China. Both Dongfang and ICSA have been empanelled as SCADA implementation agency (SIA) by the Power Finance Corporation. Through this empanelment, ICSA would be eligible to participate in SCADA implementation projects in power sector.
