IFGL Bio Ceramics Limited has reached an understanding with Dr K H Sancheti, a world renowned Orthopedic Surgeon and recipient of the ‘Padmashree’ and ‘Padmabhusan’, by virtue whereof IFGL will supply to him Alumina based Femoral Head (ceramic ball) made as per know how of Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata and to his design. Dr Sancheti has also agreed to be the Mentor of IFGL for said Ceramic Ball and he will accordingly provide guidance and help to IFGL for promoting use thereof both in India and abroad. Dr D Basu, Scientist & Head Bio-Ceramics & Coating Division of CGCRI was also present at MOU signing ceremony.
In India 80% of the people who suffer from arthritis are from low socio economic group and therefore they are deprived of such expensive artificial ceramic joint manufactured abroad. Indigenously manufactured Ceramic Ball will thus be a boon for such group as it will be available at affordable cost and this would be a small contribution of IFGL Group to the community at large."
