Most of them are planning to hold meetings with their governing councils to decide on the step ahead.
“We have received the interim report of the Bhargava Committee. We will hold a meeting of our governing council on April 26 to discuss this further,” Samir Barua, director of IIM-Ahmedabad, said.
The review committee had asked all the IIMs to defer any increase in fee and keep it at the level of December 2007 till such time as the committee submitted its final report. It has been learnt that the IIMs are not too keen to revert to the December 2007 fee structure as suggested by the interim report.
IIM officials say that the latest fee hikes were decided by their respective governing councils after thoroughly analysing the needs of the institutes.
“Ideally, we would have liked to implement the fees announced earlier since we had worked on all aspects, taking into account the institute and students. But things have changed since the OBC quota came into force,” said an IIM official.
With the date of releasing the final call letters approaching for students, the IIMs are waiting for a directive from the government so that the letters could mention the fee to be paid by the students. |
