The merchandise imports are on a decline since January and fell by 32.4 per cent in August. On the other hand, the dip in exports has slowed down, the official said.
Overseas shipments dropped by 13.8 per cent in September, the lowest rate of fall this fiscal, to $13.6 billion. The dip was over 30 per cent in April and May.
The government is likely to release trade data for September tomorrow.
