| India Eco Summit: Eicher, Volvo JV to roll out buses by next yr |

Commercial vehicle maker Eicher Motors today said its joint venture with Volvo Group will start rolling out low-floor buses for urban transportation by the second half of 2010.
"By the second half of 2010, we have a range of buses in the semi low-floor, 650 millimeter-height category which will conform to the JNNURM programme," Eicher Motors Managing Director Siddhartha Lal told reporters on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit.
The company is currently in discussion with various state governments and city authorities to provide these buses for public transportation.
Under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, (JNNURM) the Government has sanctioned purchase of buses for various mission.
When asked how many buses the company will initially roll out, Lal said, "Starting with, we are going have 100 buses a month for certain cities and going up to much more than that in the coming years. So there is huge ramp up that we expect."
The buses will be coming out from VE Commercial Vehicles, the Joint Venture with Volvo and will be sold under Eicher brand, he added.
