India Value Fund Advisors presents VC Circle "Healthcare Investment Summit" in Delhi
Announcement / Corporate Sep 30, 2009, 16:20 IST

Healthcare is one of the most booming sectors of the Indian economy at this point in time. In the light of a promising healthcare opportunity, India Value Fund presented the VC Circle “Healthcare Investment Summit” in Delhi. This first-of-it’s kind summit saw the gathering of 250+ of India's topmost healthcare entrepreneurs and executives, leading private equity fund managers, venture capitalists, bankers, advisors and management consultants to discuss the dynamics of the plethora of investment opportunities in the Indian healthcare sector.

Healthcare, which is a US$ 35 billion industry in India, is expected to reach over US$ 75 billion by 2012 and US$ 150 billion by 2017, according to Technopak Advisors in their report – ‘India Healthcare Trends 2008’.

The sector offers immense potential to healthcare players as the country witnesses a rise in the incidence of lifestyle-related and other diseases. A growing elderly population and rise in income levels are also pushing for better facilities in the country.

With the health industry booming in India, this unique initiative was received very well. The summit comprised of several panel discussions led by experienced CEOs and investors and a high quality audience analyzing the opportunities and challenges in this space. It also provided sufficient time for offline interaction and networking.

The key discussion areas at the summit were the $50 Billion-a-year Healthcare opportunity, Venture Capital investments in healthcare, Pharmacies, Outpatient healthcare, Hospitals and healthcare delivery and healthcare for masses.

Sanjay Arte, Partner India Value Fund and one of the speakers at the summit said, “IVFA is delighted to be associated with such a prestigious forum, which is aligned with IVFA's belief that there is significant untapped potential for private equity and venture capital in India’s booming healthcare sector,”

He added, “Long term capital of the kind that is provided by PE and VC firms will help in the development of an efficient and high quality healthcare services industry in India. This summit is an ideal for forum for industry participants to discuss and exchange ideas, a valuable first step in shaping the future of the healthcare industry.

Sahad P.V., Founder & Editor, VCCircle, added, “There is a huge demand supply gap in healthcare delivery business in India. There are only few organised hospital chains. Pharma retail, medical equipment, diagnostic services and so on are businesses where efficiency can be brought in. We are organising the investment summit to map out the opportunities in this sector."
