| Quovadx, a US firm into e-governance projects, has entered into a tie-up with Infotech Network Group (ING), to provide networking solutions in the healthcare, media and entertainment, government and financial services sectors in India.
| |
| ING is a group of 15 Indian software companies. Quovadx and ING feel that there is a lot of scope for a partnership with the government in the healthcare and law enforcement segments.
| |
| ING will be providing need-based solutions and Quovadx’s focus will be on quality platform for services.
| |
| While ING has relationships with the Centre and state governments, the Nasdaq-listed Quovadx is one of the fastest growing software companies in the US. It has a 40 per cent share of the hospital market in the US.
| |
| “ING will utilise the services of its 15 component companies to provide tailor-made solutions to various segments. With the Quovadx platform, users will be assured of the best possible end-result,” said Madhavan Pillai, chairman and chief executive officer, ING.
| |
| “Both Quovadx and ING have an established relationship with government organisations and I believe we can work effectively in the healthcare and law enforcement sectors. Other areas that we want to explore in India through our association with ING are life sciences, pharmaceuticals and financial services,” said David Nesvisky, executive vice-president, sales, Quovadx.

| Foreign companies and organisations save up to 50 per cent costs in coding, 40 per cent costs on medical transcription and about 50 per cent cost on processing insurance claims if these jobs are outsourced to other countries.
| |
| At present Quovadx outsources 80-90 per cent of its jobs from India. The Colarado-headquartered company has a development facility in California.
| |
| “Healthcare in the US accounts for 16 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product. Around two per cent of the turnover from healthcare is spend on the information technology solutions sector,” Nesvisky said.
| |
| “With over 1,000 health insurance companies, 6,000 hospitals and over five lakh doctors, the network to be connected is absolutely huge in the US. Even if one per cent of those jobs is done in India, it would mean a lot to us,” he said.
| |
| As far as India is concerned, the major areas for outsourcing are medical transcription, billing and coding and processing of claims, Quovadx officials said.
| |
| Citing other areas where the Quovadx-ING association can be of use, ING chief executive officer K R Tripathi said in the educational system, all it takes is a networking of the database that universities already possess.
| |
| “It will take less than 10 minutes to validate or verify authenticity of certificates, thus saving time and money. Also, simple things such as a driving licence, collection of tax revenues and the like can be integrated in a rather uncomplicated manner,” he said. |
