Outlining accessibility to computers and education as key drivers for development through technology, Intel announced the launch of its World Ahead Programme in Meghalaya, the first in the Northeast.
According to an MoU signed with the state government, Intel will provide computers and training to teachers in select government schools, for the effective integration of technology in teaching and learning methodology.
The Intel World Ahead Program brings alive the advantages of organised Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) adoption, by providing access to PCs, enabling broadband internet connectivity, educating teachers and students on the application of technology in day-to-day life, empowering citizens to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to better healthcare, an official statement said.
Intel has trained over 9,00,000 teachers in the country under its Intel Teach initiative, and has reached out to 1,00,000 learners in India under the Intel Learn programme.
Meghalaya Commissioner and Secretary Education L Roy said, this partnership with Intel strengthens the commitment to improve the ICT education scenario in Meghalaya.
Intel India president Praveen Vishakantaiah said through Intel World Ahead Program, the company strives to improve education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and government services in developing countries worldwide, by accelerating access to computers, connectivity, technology training and localised internet content.
