Intex eyes Rs 40 cr from West Bengal
BS Reporter / Kolkata Oct 14, 2009, 00:53 IST

Electronics company, Intex Technologies, is targeting a turnover of Rs 40 crore from West Bengal in the current fiscal, an increase of close to 80 per cent over the last fiscal.

More than 70 per cent of the turnover is expected to come from Intex computer peripherals and personal computer (PC) business verticals, while the rest would be contributed by the company’s consumer electronics and mobile phones business arms. The strategy will revolve around expansion in reach, new product introduction, strengthening of service network and a 360 degree approach for promotion and marketing.

At a press conference in Kolkata, Bidyadhar Behera, deputy regional sales manager - PC, Intex, said “With the festive period still on, the company has introduced different utility-centric schemes on its mobile phones, multimedia speakers, desktops, netbooks and TFT LCD monitors. Some of them include free Reliance DTH connection, trendy sling bags, scratch-card offers, etc. This is expected to help us gain momentum during this period.”Computer peripherals is the company’s oldest and biggest business vertical. During the current fiscal, the dealership base of the company will see an increase of almost 20-30 per cent. Currently, the service requirements are being looked after by a network of service centres, resident service engineers and authorized service franchisees at major locations in the state.

Ranjit Bhattacharjee, zonal sales manager - computer peripherals, Intex, added, “Kolkata is one of the top performing regions for Intex in West Bengal. The state is the third largest growing economy of India. This factor signals a huge untapped potential which we strive to exploit through combined efforts of our channel partners and local team. This fiscal, we have chalked out a special growth strategy with focus on UPS, cabinets and computer multimedia speakers.”
