| IOL Chemicals to invest Rs 216 cr in expansion |

IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (IOLCP), a leading producer of organic chemicals and bulk drugs, has said it will invest Rs 216 crore towards capacity expansion of its various product lines including Ibuprofen, its most successful pharma product.
Investments will also go towards forward and backward integration and increase in cogeneration of power, IOLCP said in a release.
Ibuprofen has been the stronghold of IOLCP's pharmaceutical operations and the company has recently doubled its Ibuprofen plant capacity to 3,600 tonnes per annum (TPA). The release said the company further aims to expand the capacity to 6,000 TPA to cater to the new geographies including Japan, Korea, Taiwan and few a states of the US.
As part of its backward integration plan, the company setting up a new Isobutyl Benzene (IBB) plant having a capacity of 6,000 MT. IBB is a critical raw material in the production of Ibuprofen. The plant is expected to be commissioned in the next quarter, the release said.
