Companies that have installed wind turbines are facing problems because the power generated by the turbines is not adequately evacuated by the state electricity board.
A press release from Indian Wind Power Association (IWPA) said that the problem has become acute in the last 10 days since the power generated by them is not evacuated by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) for 10 to 12 hours a day.
Denying the evacuation of power generated by the wind power investors when the conditions are good will lead to loss of revenue, which in turn would affect their loan repayment capacity. The problem would also affect future investments into this sector, the release added.
Tamil Nadu is in the forefront in wind power generation, having an installed 2,040 MW capacity out of 3,595 MW of total wind power installed in the country.
