Jackson had a will: family lawyer
Press Trust of India / Los Angeles July 1, 2009, 14:33 IST

Michael Jackson's will has been found and his family has seen the document, according to their lawyer.

L Londell McMillan, the attorney for Jackson's parents, Katherine and Joe Jackson, said that the family has seen the 2002 document but he declined to comment on the contents of the will, saying his legal team was evaluating it.

"I just saw the will for the first time this morning. We are in the process of reviewing it. We did not see it prior to the filing. We wish we had known about it earlier," informed McMillan.

When asked about the existence of other wills of Jackson, the lawyers said it was possibility.

John Branca, a former lawyer of Jackson, who represented Jackson form 1980 to 1996, surfaced with the will on Tuesday, a day after Katherine Jackson filed court papers stating that her son died without a will.

Branca and Jackson parted ways in 2006 but he was rehired by Jackson on June 17, eight days before his death, the Los Angeles Times reported quoting sources.

Though, Jacksons' family lawyer has declined to give any details about the will, sources say that Jackson named his mother as guardian of his three children and ordered that all his assets be moved into an entity known as the Michael Jackson Family Trust, the newspaper claimed.

The will names Branca and veteran music executive John McLain as it's executors.

McMillan said it was "a good thing" and "part of the process" for those who had worked with Jackson to produce documents related to his estate.

"Mr Jackson had a series of lawyers over time, and part of our challenge is to make contact with each and every one of those advisors to review their files," he added.

But Branca claims that it was Jackson's last will.

"We are now carrying out his wishes and desires as expressed in the last will and testament. It is their sincere desire that Michael's affairs be handled with dignity and respect," Branca and Joel Katz, an Atlanta attorney, had said in a statement.

Jackson's mother has temporary custody of his three children and a limited control over his estate.
