Jackson's doctor off suspect list after police interrogation
Press Trust of India / Los Angeles Jun 29, 2009, 13:32 IST

Conrad Murray, the cardiologist who was the only person in the room when pop legend Michael Jackson suffered cardiac arrest was interviewed by the Los Angeles Police Department for over three hours.

After the long interrogation, Murray's spokeswoman released a statement saying,"Investigators say the doctor is in no way a suspect and remains a witness to this tragedy," reported Los Angeles Times online.

"He helped identify the circumstances around the death and clarified some inconsistencies," added the statement.

Police confirmed that they interviewed Murray, adding that he was cooperative and "provided information which will aid the investigation"

The cardiologist licensed in Texas, Nevada and California, reportedly administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) to Jackson before the paramedics team arrived.

He had also accompanied the singer to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where Jackson was pronounced dead.

The detectives had earlier impounded Conrad's BMW car to investigate whether it contained evidence related to Jackson's death. However, they have not released any details about it.

The police had met Murray briefly after Jackson's death Thursday and they conducted an "extensive interview" with the doctor yesterday.

Murray will remain in Los Angeles until investigators no longer need his assistance with the investigation.
