MphasiS, a Bangalore-based IT services and BPO solutions company and EDS have announced that from November 1, Jerry Rao(pictured) is to join the global team of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) as vice-president and general manager of EDS operations in India.
In his new role, Jerry Rao is expected to spearhead EDS’ business efforts in India and will report directly to the EDS chairman. This comes against the backdrop of intense speculation that Jerry Rao may quit MphasiS consequent on EDS acquiring a majority stake in it in July.
The merger of EDS and MphasiS is awaiting shareholders approval. Once this is over by early 2007, the new intity is expected to enhance the capabilities of both companies to serve their clients globally.
Ron Rittenmeyer, chief operating officer of EDS said, “We are extremely happy to have Jerry join EDS’ global leadership team. He brings with him invaluable global experience across diverse positions and will (help) in shaping EDS’ strategy while continuing to provide leadership to the MphasiS team.”
