Jet Airways agrees for 3% commission to travel agents
BS Reporter / Hyderabad Dec 08, 2008, 16:00 IST

Jet Airways, the country's largest private air carrier, has agreed in-principle to pay 3 per cent commission on the basic fare to travel agents.

"The management of Jet Airways and JetLite has agreed to pay travel agents a 3 per cent commission. An official confirmation from the airline is expected by today evening," Sunil Kumar, secretary-general, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), told mediapersons here on Monday.

It may be recalled that five major travel agent bodies, including TAAI and the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), had stopped selling Jet Airways' tickets from December 4, 2008, to put pressure on the airline to restore the 5 per cent commission on the ticket sale or at least implement it to the extent of 3 per cent. "We are also in talks with Air India and Kingfisher Airlines and are awaiting a positive response from them," Kumar said.
