Jet pilots' union de-registered
Press Trust of India / Mumbai Nov 13, 2009, 20:49 IST

Jet Airways' pilots union the National Aviators Guild (NAG), which recently led an agitation bringing the carrier's operations to a halt, was de-registered today by the labour office here for "misrepresentation" of facts.

The NAG has been "de-registered on grounds of misrepresentation of facts. Wrong information was given (by them)", Labour Commissioner N V Palve told PTI here.

The pilots of the premier private carrier had launched the agitation when two of their colleagues were sacked in August after they formed the NAG and got it registered with the Labour Commissioner's office.

Two more pilots were dismissed in September after the agitation, that had disrupted almost the entire operation of Jet Airways, had begun.

When contacted, NAG officials, requesting anonimity, said they were yet to receive any formal communication in this regard from the labour office.

However, they said they would weigh all options once they received the formal communication. "We can even move the Industrial Court against the Labour Commissioner's order as soon as we receive it," the officials said.

The pilots ended their agitation on September 12 after prolonged negotiations with the airline management. The two sides had reached a settlement under which the four sacked pilots were reinstated.

A consultative group comprising Jet CEO Hafiz Ali, two directors, two representatives from Flight Operations Department and five pilots, was set up to continue dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues.
