Jyoti Ltd plans renewable energy sector foray

Vadodara-based engineering company Jyoti Ltd seem to be banking heavily on green energy. As part of its future expansion, the company has chalked out massive plans to foray in renewable energy sector.

The is keen to take up wind, solar and big as well as small hydro power projects in years to come.

“At present the company is working on its windmill project. We have completed 60 per cent work of our windmill project,” Rahul Amin, chairman and managing director, Jyoti Ltd.

Jyoti Ltd has entered into technology tie-ups with German and Dutch companies for its windmill project. The company intends to manufacture windmills of 850KW and its first product is expected to hit the market next year.

Interestingly, Jyoti Ltd will use newer technologies to produce windmills without gear box, he added. “At later stage, the company also plans to foray into small and big hydro power projects as well as solar energy sector,” he added.

At present the company is focuing more on water related projects.

“We are modernising our water pumps and motor plant in Vadodara. Research and Development (R&D) is yet another key area where the company wants to strengthen its position,” he added.

Recently, Jyoti Ltd has bagged orders worth Rs. 541 crore from Karnataka government. The orders are for package-I and package-II of Upper Bhadra Irrigation Project being implemented in Karnataka.
