Kingfisher ropes in Seabury to assist in ops
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Feb 08, 2010, 19:41 IST

Faced with increasing losses in a reviving industry, Vilay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines has hired the US-based Seabury Aviation and Aerospace to advise it on strengthening operations.

"Seabury Aviation and Aerospace has been hired to come in and assist us in sustaining long-term profitability by further strengthening the operational and financial performance of the company so that we are well poised to ride the upturn and capitalise on this opportunity using the best global practices," Kingfisher Airlines said in a statement.

The airline did not say when will Seabury come up with its recommendations.

Seabury gives advice to the aviation and aerospace industries in areas of fleet optimisation, strategy, business planning and network development.

Kingfisher Airlines reported a loss of Rs 420 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2009, compared to a loss of Rs 413.39 crore in the corresponding period of 2008, although it had attributed the loss to exceptional items.

Mallaya had said that the carrier made its maiden operating profit on domestic segment during the quarter, at a time when the air traffic in the country went up and clocked 8 per cent growth in 2009.

Rivals Jet Airways and Spicejet made profits in the December quarter.
