| Kopran has licensed out its entire range of pharmaceutical products to Ahmedabad-based Suvik Pharma, a Sarabhai group company. The deal involves 18 to 20 prescription products.

| The company had sold its flagship brand Acton to Zydus Cadila in 2002 and assigned another three brands—Vent, Tini and Bid—to Merck Specialities early last year. Company sources said the company has licensed out all its ethical brands, which are valued at around Rs 10 crore, to Suvik Pharma. “The deal will give us a royalty,” they added.

| Kopran sources said the brand disinvestments was part of a financial and business restructuring in the company whereby the company intends to focus on international bulk drugs and generic formulations market.

| The company has also signed a distribution pact with Mumbai-based Manish Pharma for its complete range of over the counter (OTC) products, which include its leading Smyle brand. A senior Kopran executive confirmed that the company had given out the distribution of these brands, which had annual sales of Rs 20 crore to Rs 30 crore, to Manish Pharma.

| “The distribution agreement will increase the products' market reach as the company has a marketing force of over 1,000 people nationwide,” the executive added.
