The American Consulate General has set aside August 11 solely for interviews for people who do not speak English. It will also increase the daily number of visa appointments to 500 per day from August 1. “We understand that many people who speak only Telugu, Hindi or Urdu are facing delays in getting appointments, and we want to make a special effort to make sure they get visa interviews on time,” consul general, Cornelis M Keur, stated in a press release.
The US consulate here has two officers who can speak Telugu and one Hindi/Urdu speaker besides many translators. It has no place for parking and hence wants people to arrive on time, rather than hours ahead of their appointment.
