This refers to “Reverse swing at Kotla”, December 29. The Kotla pitch was declared unfit because of uneven bounce. Nothing could be more shameful than this for India as far as cricket is concerned, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) — the world’s richest cricket board — should be ashamed of the incident. Just the resignation of Daljeet Singh, Sunil Dev and Chetan Chauhan will not serve the purpose.

What is shocking is that despite knowing very well that the Kotla pitch has attracted criticism from various quarters in the past few months during the Champions League and India-Australia series, the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) and the BCCI did not pay heed to the warnings. They allowed an international match to happen on a newly-laid pitch without having conducted some practice matches on it to assess its quality.
