LG Electronics, a major player in the global flat panel display market, announced the launch of the single layer PQ70 HD Plasma TV with 600 Hz Sub-field Driving technologies in the country today. LG addresses this with its energy efficient Smart Energy Saving Plus, standard on all its new plasma TVs for 2009

In India, 45% of all plasma TVs sold in 2008 were made by LG, with Industry sales totaling 60,000 sets. LG owes its success in India to its award winning designs, innovative technology and its integrated supply chain. Demonstrating a remarkable success in the region, with market share of more than 44 percent the brand had introduced a gamut of outstanding features in the plasma category. The company’s success in the region is due as much to features designed specifically to meet the needs of local customers as well as due to good design and innovative technology.

On this occasion Mr. Moon B Shin, MD, LGEIL announced, “With an innovative single layer design, optimized image quality, Bluetooth connectivity and DivX capabilities, we’re sure the LG PQ70 will please even the most discerning TV watcher. Plasma TV’s are available in 7 models with target sales of 40000 units by the end of 2009. Our plasma sales have surpassed all expectations so far and we are looking forward to even greater success in 2009. We will continue to develop our products further by actively listening to our customers and incorporating their insights into our products.”

Mr. Amitabh Tiwari, Business Group Marketing Head, Home Entertainment further added, “Every market has specific needs and we’ve worked very hard to get to know our customers in India so that we can meet their needs better than anyone else. About the New Range
The PQ70 easily pairs with a wide range of Bluetooth devices, expanding the TV’s capabilities and content choices.

This can also play DivX, along with other file formats including JPEG and MP3, on its USB 2.0 interface. The frameless, single layer design of the PQ70 is a minimalist’s dream come true. Like a clear piece of crystal hanging on the wall, its 2.5mm-thick single pane of glass sits plainly across the entire length of the screen, eliminating the need for a traditional bezel. LG’s HD Ultra Bright Panel has improved brightness and incredibly deep black levels that, along with Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 2,000,000:1, ensure images always look vibrant and realistic. The panel’s motion technology also makes possible LG’s 600Hz Sub-field Driving technology, which reacts with outstanding precision to changes on the screen, delivering fast action and zero motion blur. This creates an extremely fast motion picture response time of 0.001ms, meaning sports and action movies can be enjoyed as they are meant to be.

The PQ70 includes LG’s Dual XD Engine and image processing system that optimizes picture quality for any type of content. Special AV modes further enhance viewing, providing choices among movie, video game and sports modes with the press of a button. The PQ70 can read from a variety of USB devices like external hard discs and USB memory.

The innovative Intelligent Sensor adjusts picture brightness according to ambient light in the room, not only improving the viewing experience, but also reducing power consumption over normal plasma TVs. Standby energy consumption is almost zero. LG’s energy efficient Plasma TVs meet mandatory energy regulations in all countries where they are sold. In addition to all of this, the LG PQ70 is built to last, with a lifespan of 100,000 hours.
