| "We were unable to visit the site because of agitation by local people," a member of the committee said.

| The team comprised representatives of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Union Environment Ministry.

| It was led by Nuclear Power Corporation India Ltd (NPCIL) chief S K Jain, who is the chairman of the site selection committee.

| According to officials, the size of the nuclear power plant could be around 2,000 MW and would cost Rs 9,000 to Rs 10,000 crore.
