Logica expands Indian operations
BS Reporter / Chennai/ Bangalore March 19, 2008
The Netherlands-headquartered Logica has announced expanding its operations in India by adding another city in its global delivery platform.

The company has also reshuffled its Indian management team by roping in former head of EDS India to head the company's India operation.

The new site is located in the DLF IT Park in Chennai, would be open for business in July this year, and would house about 1,500 people. This will be the company's first delivery centre outside Bangalore. Besides, the company has an office in Mumbai where the sales and marketing teams are located. Logica's India headcount stands at about 3,000 people.

Meanwhile, Rahul Patwardhan, the current CEO of Logica in India, has moved to the Netherlands to take on the role of Global Director Application Services. Recently, Logica had created an Outsourcing Services division to cater to increasing customers’ demands for services to be delivered to the customers from its centres worldwide.

Abhay Gupte, who was earlier heading EDS' Indian business as managing director, has joined Logica as the Chief Executive of the company's Indian operations. He will be responsible of the overall performance for Logica’s offshore operations in India, and will report to Jim McKenna, Chief Operations Officer, the company said in a statement.

Besides, the company has promoted GBS Bindra, currently Global Director of Product Engineering in Logica, as Global Innovation Director, a newly created post. In his new role, Bindra will lead key role in a programme to design and implement a group-wide innovation strategy.

“I’m delighted to be announcing the signing of a new site in India and two very strong senior appointments for the Indian business. I believe Logica needs to build on its current global delivery capability and these announcements put us on that road to growth," said Andy Green, CEO Logica.
