Mahindra Satyam to launch global expansion drive from Malaysia
Jaishree Balasubramanian/ PTI / Kuala Lumpur Dec 01, 2009, 18:43 IST

Mahindra Satyam today said it has selected Malaysia to kick off a new international expansion drive, especially into the Asia-Pacific markets.

"Our service delivery levels have improved. Our customers say that despite what had happened to the company, delivery is the hallmark of the company," Mahindra Satyam Senior Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Rohit Gandhi told PTI here today. He said Satyam acquired 40 new customers since Tech Mahindra acquired it.

Satyam was acquired by Tech Mahindra in April, following its founder Ramalinga Raju admitted in January that he cooked the books of the company to the tune of nearly Rs 8,000 crore.

As a country-specific investment strategy, Gandhi said, the company will expand its global solution centre operations in Cyberjaya, located in the Malaysian hi-tech city--Info-Comm Technology corridor-- near here, by moving more global software development and delivery operations to this entre.

Relocated to a larger facility in Cyberjaya, the new GSC with 18 configurable offshore development centre blocks and a 1,100-seat development block and a 1,100-servers data centre, is Mahindra Satyam’s largest technology development and delivery facility outside India.

"Selecting Malaysia to launch the global expansion plans underscores our faith in Malaysia’s advanced infrastructure, rich ICT talent pool and competitive cost environment,he said.

"Malaysia will help us leverage on numerous advantage of language and time-zone to service our Asia-Pacific customers --from where we have not lost a single customer since outbreak of the scandal," Gandhi noted.
