A Maoist leader in Jharkhand has warned that his group could resort to LTTE-style attacks against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the wake of the offensive against naxals.
The Prime Minister and the Congress president might meet the same fate as Rajiv Gandhi had met at the hands of the LTTE, said a press release issued in Garwah district by Jharkhand State Central Committee member-cum-Ghatsilla Sub-Zonal Commander 'Anupji' (Anup Mukherji of West Bengal).
A threat has also been issued against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, the release said and asked all Congress legislators, both from Parliament and assembly, to quit within a week or face "death warrants".
"I have not come across such a committee as of now," Superintendent of Police of East Singhbhum Navin Kumar Singh said when asked whether Anupji operated in Ghatsilla sub-division which falls under East Singhbhum.
"The letter could be fictitious and was found by someone in Balumath in Latehar district and was released in Garwah district in Jharkhand," he added.
