Marketing, finance, firms visit IIM-A on Day 0.5

Borrowing the pace of Day Zero, the second day (Day 0.5) of the summer placement process at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) saw companies from the fields of marketing, general management, consulting and finance offer internships to students.

Companies like Procter & Gamble, Hindustan Unilever, Coca-cola, Nokia, Tata Administrative Service (TAS) and Aditya Birla group were seen on campus to hire IIM-A students on Tuesday. "Hindustan Unilever and Procter & Gamble, which are on top of the preference list of students looking at a career in marketing, were back on campus to recruit summer interns for 2010. Diageo, Nokia and Coca-cola were other sought after marketing company on Day 0.5,” said Nissim Nabar, member of Media Cell.

TAS and The Aditya Birla Group, which saw over 15 acceptances between them, offered general management roles that found great favour among the students.

Rahul Krishna, head, Human Resources at TAS said, "The Tatas and TAS, in particular, is committed to investing in growth of future leaders and to this effect we at TAS put all resources into place to provide the best opportunities to the best talent."

While Feedback Ventures, a firm focused on the infrastructure sector was one of the consulting firms present on Day 0.5, Fortress Financial Services, a firm specialising in infrastructure, was the first time recruiter at IIM-A this year.

Some other companies that returned to IIMA this year and recruited from two to five interns are Citibank, Frost & Sullivan, Edelweiss and Anand Rathi. Overall, Day 0.5 this year was similar to the Day 0.5 last year, in terms of roles offered.

Day Zero saw corporate biggies like, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Barclays, P Morgan, Nomura, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Citigroup, McKenzie and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The students

These students will join various group companies across India and abroad for a two month period.
