The markets have been looking good this afternoon. The Sensex is up by 165 points at 16,906.25 and the Nifty is trading at 5,023, up 47 points.

HDFC was the top gainer on the BSE, gaining 4.46% at 2,646. Tata Motors rose by 3.01% to Rs 617 and  ITC gained by 2.02% at Rs 227.40.

On the losing side, Bharti Airtel is trading 2.42% down at Rs 431.90. Sterlite has declined by 1.67% to Rs 749.30, while Jai Prakash has shed 1.11% and is now tradi ng at Rs 256.85.

The market breadth remains positive, with 57.53% of the the traded scrips in the green. Out of 2,710 stocks traded during the day, there are 1,559 advancing stocks and 1,048 declining ones.
